LIMF is proud to have supported the work of some of the most relevant and innovative artists of the past three decades, and of its success in promoting internationally accessible forms of live performance which appeal so widely across the broad spectrum of cosmopolitan London, and beyond.

AFYM, held in late January, is an annual event comprising competitive and non-competitive classes in Piano, Strings, Woodwind and Ensemble sections. The Primary Schools Day includes schools ensembles and recorder solo, duet and group classes. There are classes for all ages and all abilities, and informal workshops are held throughout six days of performance in three glorious venues at the Guildhall

Once the UK’s only film festival dedicated to screening work from Northern Europe, NLFF is now expanding its remit to take in the entire world. Our new focus is on breakthrough talent, and festival organisers have employed programmers to scout the globe for the hottest new filmmakers out there, and to bring the most exciting and innovative debut works back to premiere in the North East.

We are showcasing debuts by a wide range of dynamic, young film-making talent and the most creative of TV/film practitioners to celebrate the energy that young Africans from all corners of the continent have brought to drama as they embrace the digital age.

The Festival is non-competitive and all films and presenters appear by invitation, recognising the quality and the content of their work. The Festival has established close links with the Banff Mountain Film Festival and is a member of the International Alliance for Mountain Film.
