Welcome to The Runners' Club.

The Runners' Club is an exclusive and dedicated crewing agency / diary service for runners and the people who need them in the entertainment and media industry.

It was founded by Nicholas Sherard who began his career as a runner some 20 years ago. He is now successfully producing and directing and set up The Runners' Club as a way to give other aspirational film makers the opportunity to break into the business that he loves so much.

The Runners' Club offers an essential service to the industry by providing what we believe are key crew, 'The Runners', who in the scheme of things may well be at the bottom of the ladder, but who are essential members of any project.  Everyone needs runners from day to day and from project to project and here at The Runners' Club our mission is to be the definitive diary service that the industry calls upon.

As everyone knows, it is difficult to get into the 'Entertainment Business' with literally hundreds of thousands of people trying to enter it every year.  At The Runners' Club our aim is to provide that all important 'foot in the door' for those that wish to expand their knowledge and experience and further their careers.  So, whether you are a production manager tearing your hair out because you need someone to pick up the props / film stock or a graduate desperate for a chance or lucky break, we're here to bridge that gap.

For our clients, we aim to do 'all the running' for you - by taking the stress out of making those dozens of phone calls to get that extra pair of hands. For our runners, we have over 25 years of experience in this industry and our policy is to help members the traditional way by providing a professional 'hands on' service.  We are not just a faceless website, we offer proper representation to our club members, where they would otherwise be somewhere amongst a pile of c.v.'s or in the bin. We believe a strong brand, like The Runners' Club, puts our runners at the front of the queue in a very competitive market. We are an extension of their mobile phone, a professional answering service and in addition to organizing their diary, we actively seek work within the industry on a daily basis.

Our Mission

We aim to be the definitive portal for runners in the entertainment industry; a central hub; a common link for runners and the people who need them. Graduates from media colleges and universities, as well as freelancers and those who wish to change career direction, will come to know The Runners' Club as the first port of call and the best platform for representation and to get work in the industry.  Equally production companies will know who to turn to when the pressure is on. We aim to guarantee any company a runner on paid jobs at their request.

Hours Of Operation

Our offices are based just outside London, near Gatwick.  Our hours operate between 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday, however, we are always contactable out of hours and weekends if the need
arises.  We provide runners nationwide for productions up and down the country and overseas. Our runners work in all areas of the industry including, TV, Film, Theatre, Music, PR, Radio, Corporate,
Fashion etc.

The Runners' Club provides an invaluable PROFESSIONAL FREE SERVICE to companies when crewing for productions and projects.  We make it easy for you and one phone call is all you need to make or you can now fill in the booking form online.  So, whenever you need an extra pair of hands for a film, event, in-house or on location, whatever your requirements, whatever your project large or small, we can guarantee** you a runner.

All runners are chosen for their professionalism, attitude, common sense, enthusiasm, dedication, reliability and so on. We endeavour to get the right people on your team and for that we do the running for you. Our service also encourages young blood to enter the industry, to discover their potential and assist them in fulfiling their aspirations.

Our Runners

Our Runners are available to work in all areas of the entertainment industry.  We have both experienced and seasoned runners and newcomers including graduates on our books.  The runners are usually paid the normal industry rates (please note: these rates may differ on every job usually due to size of budget and industry sector). The runner fees are quoted by the employer at the time of the booking.  On all commercial and fully budgeted projects, we expect our runners to be paid in line with the rest of the crew. However, fully understanding how the industry works, some of our runners who wish to obtain valuable work experience have agreed and are willing to undertake unpaid volunteer placements.

Wages

Please Note: The Runners' Club is not an agency for free labour!...... We are a professional diary service for feelance runners and provide invaluable support to the industry.   On all commercial and fully budgeted projects, clients naturally must comply with the obligations of the National Minimum Wage Act 1998. However, please don't take this as carte blanche that evey runner should be paid the minimum wage if the industry rate is obviously higher.

 

Our runners standard fee starts from £75.00 per day for an 8 hour day. Depending on the project and budget i.e tv commecials, our runners can earn upto £150.00 for a 10 hour day.  Overtime hours do apply and should be paid for as all other crew will be covered. 

 

As industry professionals, we understand that a substantial amount of projects made by new and established film and television makers are under financed and more often don't have a budget. Nonetheless, the necessity to gain experience and exposure in order to move up the ladder means that under financed and zero budgeted projects are made with the will of the creators, friends and professionals across the industry and all involved who wish to get ahead.  This is probably the most competitive industry in the world, so anyone who wishes to get into the business may have to take on jobs where the going rate will not always be available.  Runners who have agreed to take on unpaid volunteer work do so at their own discretion, bearing in mind if they don't, somebody else will.  The industry is unlikely to ever provide a time where all jobs however small will be paid.  One who wishes to pursue a career in the industry has to be realistic but not totaly put off.  You need to be tenacious, assertive and patient but more importantly hungry enough to persevere with the uncertainty.  Naturally luck does come into it too.
